L U L L O • P A M P O U L I D E S is a specialist art dealership focusing on paintings and sculpture dating from 1500-1900. Established in 2016 by Andrea Lullo and Andreas Pampoulides we are based in a bespoke gallery in the heart of St. James’s, London, where we present artworks in a fresh and modern context, supported by rigorous, up-to-date and accessible scholarship.

Andrea and Andreas have over 50 years of combined experience in the art world and their ambition is to assist art lovers of all ages and backgrounds to engage with paintings and sculptures from all periods, all schools and across all price levels. They bring to the market connoisseurship, energy and innovation, as well as strong and established relationships with collectors, museums, and scholars. 

We exhibit at some of the leading art fairs such as TEFAF Maastricht and Frieze Masters and have sold works to the most prominent museums in the world such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, among others.  

Andrea is the third generation of an art dealing family which has its roots in Rome and Brescia. Growing up in Rome, he was lucky enough to be immersed in art from an early age by his antique dealing father and his mother who was an impressive collector in her own right. From the age of eight he would spend countless afternoons in the studios of artists and restorers, as well as obsessively visiting the treasure-filled Palazzi and Museums of Rome, indeed by the age of twelve he could attribute every picture on display in the Musei Vaticani in Rome.

From his original love of Italian Baroque paintings Andrea has throughout his life expanded his knowledge and expertise to encompass all the major schools of Western European painting, with a particular interest in Italian, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish and French schools. It this true passion for the objects, coupled with absolute discretion, that has lead to Andrea to making an impressive number of discoveries of lost masterpieces, including works by Philippe De Champaigne, Gerard Van Hontorst, Francois Boucher, Jan Lievens, Luca Giordano and Dosso Dossi. Andrea has worked with an extensive network of dealers, advisors, researchers, and is able to offer advice on attribution, cleaning, restoration, as well as how to best place pictures in the market place.

Andreas’s formal education began with an undergraduate degree in Classics and a year of practical training in sculpture at art school. In 1999 he undertook an MPhil in early European art history, which subsequently evolved into a junior traineeship in the European sculpture department of Christie’s London. Here he remained for 13 years during which time he became a director and later head of the London department. This experience gave him access to some of the world’s greatest collections of European sculpture, and the opportunity to unearth many long-lost masterpieces by artists such as Giambologna, Antonio Susini, Hubert Gerhard and Adriaen de Vries, to name a few.

More recently, Andreas served three years as a director in the Coll & Cortes/ Colnaghi galleries. Here Andreas played a key role in the discovery, acquisition, research and selling of a number of significant artworks that now reside in both important private art collections, and in world-class museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Art and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Andreas’s expertise lies in all media of sculpture and works of art (including bronze, marble, ivory, enamel, wood, hard stones) dating from the early Christian period to circa 1830. He has a particular passion for the study of Byzantine and later medieval works of art as well as renaissance, mannerist and baroque Italian bronzes. 

Matteo holds a first class MA in the History of Art from the University of Bologna, where he focused on the history of old master paintings exhibitions between the two world wars and the re-evaluation of Baroque art that they engendered.

Previously, Matteo worked in cultural institutions such as the Soprintendenza dei Beni Culturali in Milan and the Italian Institute of Culture in Budapest. More recently, he worked as a freelance researcher for Italian museums and art dealers where he applied his broad knowledge of north Italian painters and also developed his second passion, 18 and 19th century European and Asian silver.

Matteo has contributed to a number of museum and exhibition publications, including the general catalogues of paintings for the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo (Brescia) and the Castelvecchio Museum (Verona).

Aurélien obtained his Bachelor of Design and Art Direction at the University of the Arts London before working for design and advertising agencies in London. Despite his background in Modern and Contemporary art he maintained a strong interest in classic art and culture.

Aurélien joined Lullo · Pampoulides in autumn 2021. In addition to his Gallery Manager position he oversees the Design and Communication strategy of the gallery, deepening his knowledge and passion for the arts.
