The Toscanini Tomb – of which the present plaster is a reduced-scale excerpt from one façade - is among Bistolfi’s most refined and elegant creations, originally built for the burial of Giorgio Toscanini, the 5-year-old son of the eminent conductor, between 1909-11. In later years other members of the Toscanini family were buried there including the conductor’s wife Carla, his daughter-in-law Cia Fornaroli, his daughter Wanda, and her husband, the famous pianist Wladimir Horowitz.
